Hello.

I practice image-making using photochemical processes, primarily shooting and hand-developing celluloid film. The tactility of the medium which makes experimental interventions possible at every stage—in-camera, during processing, through projection as well as in archiving—is something I continue to explore across formats, in still and moving images, and in the realm of expanded cinema. I also work as a writer and director in film, for both narrative and non-narrative forms.

I hold a BA in Psychology and English Literature from. St. Xavier’s, Bombay. From 2019-24, I worked as a creative producer at Harkat Studios—an arts studio, alternative performance space, and film lab based in Bombay. Along with helping shape commercial work for their clientele, I curated and programmed story-telling shows and theatrical productions for the performance space. As part of the lab, I helped curate and organise film programmes, installations and exhibits presented at venues such as Oberhausen Film Festival, L'Œil d’Oodaaq, India Art Fair, Serendipity Arts Festival, Emami Art Experimental Film Festival, and 16mm Film Festival. And co-facilitated workshops exploring image-making on celluloid, with and without a camera, for various art institutes and film communities in India and abroad, some of which include Arthshila Shantiniketan, NID Ahmedabad, L’Etna Paris, Kathiwada House and St. Xavier’s in Bombay.

I like overlapping mediums to develop work rooted in their intersections. I also like foraging for right-feeling words, arranging and rearranging them.

I am currently based out of Bombay, India.
